The small northern indigenous people, the Nivkhs, live on the shores of the Sea of Okhotsk. Every day, they face a harsh struggle for survival, while their lives are filled with everyday routines, customs, hunting, celebrations, death, and birth. Against this backdrop unfolds the story of a ten-year-old boy who, together with his grandfather, father, and uncle, goes on his first seal-hunting expedition. However, misfortune awaits the hunters as a fog descends over the sea, obscuring their view of the shore.
Directed by Karen Gevorkyan. Starring Bayarta Dambayev, Aleksandr Sasykov, Doskhan Zholzhaksynov, Tokon Daiyrbekov and А. Кавозг.
Lyradrift plots Spotted Dog Running at the Edge of the Sea as a star at the centre of its own sky, with related films orbiting it as satellites, gathered from TMDB recommendations, shared themes, Wikidata links (same director, writer, series, source material or subject) and closeness of feel, then chosen for the strongest evidence — the closer and brighter a star, the more strongly it is related. Fly to any satellite to make it the new centre and keep exploring.
